AC at the beach...

So I just got back from Myrtle Beach, didn't take the fifth wheel, stayed in our beach house but my question is...... It's always VERY HOT and HUMID there and I know the AC's on the house seem to go non-stop so I can't even imagine being in one of the more popular cg's at MB with no shade at all. How many have issues with there AC while there for a week. I know my AC will work non-stop this coming weekend but that's just for 3 days.
  • We just returned from Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago, the AC runs constantly in the heat of the day. Our inside temperature stayed around 74-76 during the day, it would catch up at night and shut off. I would guess the rates at the campground reflect the power bill they must be paying.
  • If one lives in a tin can in direct sunlight during the summer in SC one should expect the AC units to work all the time. But I suspect the AC units are up to the continued use, and as stated, the cost is factored into the site cost.

There are places to stay that still have shade, but it's still hot (and humid).
  • We're in Tampa, Florida. No shade and it's very hot and humid. We have two a/c and the mh stays cool. We were in the Keys through April and it was hot, humid there too. No shade and we stayed cool. Our mh is insulated well and we have dual pane windows though.
  • We have been going to Myrtle Beach Travel Park for the past 20+ years and staying out near the water.... That is the main reason we upgraded to 2 AC's with this fiver...once cooled , they are fine...

  • My personal choice when it comes to cooling the RV is to keep it as warm as I can to be comfortable inside. My reason for that is so when I go outside the heat isn't such a shock. Same goes for coming inside to the cold when its hot outdoors. I set the thermostats on 79 during the day and about 73 at bed time. Running them on auto compared to constant on will help keep the humidity down, too. Also, I only run the a/c units on low fan as they will remove more humidity that way compared to being on high. It is the high humidity that makes me uncomfortable. If the humidity is lower, the temperature can be higher.
We have a friend who keeps their rig so cold inside and the fans running constantly that it feels cold but damp. I have tried to explain to her the logic but she doesn't get it. Yet when she comes into our rig she always says its so comfortable. LOL
I have camped in 100 degree heat at the beaches and never had an issue. Phillip
  • Yep, and they keep wanting to tint RVs anything but white. How logical is that?

  • We usually stay at the KOA in MB for a week in the summer. Have both A/C going and no issues.

I opted for the standard white on our new Lifestyle for that very reason AND to save $8k on full body paint. I have taken my infrared temperature gun and shined it around on the white gel coat and then dark areas of the graphics and the dark window tint. The difference in temperature is unbelievable. The full body paint sure is pretty but sure must be hotter and harder to maintain. Phillip
  • Just got home from Myrtle Beach Travel Park and was there for 2 weeks 2 spots off of the Beach. Both A/C's ran from the time we got there until we left on the Landmark 5th wheel. No problems at all keeping the camper cool.

The Landmark is also Chocolate Full Body Paint. No more White RV's to Oxidize for me.
