AC not cooling

Does anyone remember summer in Florida before everyone had AC? Pensacola in the summer is hot, My 15k low profile dometic quit cooling. To replace do we go with a heat pump unit and where is the right place to buy? Thanks for your reply.

I would still get it checked. From your original post it wasn't stated what it was or wasn't doing other than not cooling. There are many things that could be bad other than losing the freon. I would take it to a place that does repairs as well as sales as most tyimes they will eat the diagnostics if you purchase a unit.

Assume by this comment your compressor is working but it's just not cooling. If so - then chances are you lost freon and that usually requires paying someone to find leak/attach recharge valves/recharge or replace the unit (only need upper portion of AC).

Before buying new unit I would clean both compressor and evaporator coils along with filters -- doesn't cost anything and if nothing else will eliminate the obvious.

  • I would get it checked out. A 2005 isn't very old. It could be a capacitor which is quick and easy fix.
  • Why not just look into getting yours repaired, if it's even possible. A heat pump in FL is useless.
