AC Not Keeping Up

Our 2013 Sandpiper 365saq Dometic AC just can't seem to keep up on hot humid days. I understand not working the best on those types of summer days, whoever when the entire coach is 95 degrees so I think there is a problem here. Top unit has been cleaned, intake has been cleaned, all the windows and skylights are blocked off. Anyone else with this problem on these units and any solutions?
  • Take the cover off on the inside and make sure that the outlet (cold) air) is not recycling with the intake (warm) air. Remember that the air being cooled comes from the inside of the RV not from the roof. In some cases the two plenums are next to each other and the metal can separate and cause internal leaks and recirculation. Use aluminum tape to repair.

Other generic tips are, find shade, and run the A/C hard at night when it's cooler out to "sub cool" the coach. This may allow it to keep up better in the daytime. But it'll get cold at night.
  • Cover windows on the outside of the RV. Park with bedroom facing south. Start air conditioner early in the day. Spray the roof and sides with water.
  • IMO most can't keep up with the hot weather, especially if you only have one AC unit. Most RV's are not insulated like a home is. Most have single pane windows. Most are not very efficient. Parking in the shade can help, window coverings can help also. We use reflective bubble wrap on our sun side windows, it seems to help with the heat. It definitely does on our windshield. JMO
