You're on the money. You can't mis-hitch a B&W hitch. You can drop the 5th wheel due to operator error, but if that handle comes back when you hitch up, you're hooked up. Apparently some hitches can be "high hitched" which means that the jaws close, but not around the middle of the pin. Then when they pull away the pin slides out of the hitch and drops on the bed. This is basically impossible to do on a B&W hitch since the handle won't come back if it is mis-hitched.
There has been one instance that I've heard of when a B&W hitch owner dropped his 5th wheel: he locked the hitch open and forgot that he had. Then he tried to drive away with the hitch handle locked open. Needless to say he didn't get far.
You have an excellent trouble-free hitch. Short of getting a cushioned hitch you can't do better.
