add on fuel tanks

I don't believe anyone makes saddle tanks anymore. Larger replacement tanks are available from Tranfer Flow and several other aftermarket suppliers. But it depends on gas vs. diesel and brand/year/cab/bed length of your truck. Otherwise there is always in-bed tanks.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a RDS 60gal in bed tank and a toolbox to go between fuel tank and hitch. That will give me 95 gals of fuel. I will do the installation myself and come in under my $1000.00 budget. A Titian replacement tank, that will replace your factory tank my only give you an extra 15-20 gallons and they cost $1,500.00+. This is just the information I have been searching over the last month or so.

Ditto for getting a RDs tank from N Tool, I have a 51 gallon alum tank. It also includes tool box, that I love. Installed it myself with the gravity-feed attachment that NT also sells.

My 2009 D/A 2500 only has approx a 28 gall tank. Having the aux tank gives me right at 80 gallons total (at roughly 10mpg pulling 34" 5w, can drive close to 800 miles).

I never fill aux tank up, only put in what I think I will need for the day's drive (mostly drive between 325 to 350 miles). I usually add about 15 gall of diesel in the aux. tank. This gives me a fuel cushion & helps keep the weight down for my R axle.

I have a 100 gallon stand alone fuel tank that I would like to install where my tool box is now. Have any of you installed your tool box behind the tail gate? If I install the fuel tank behind the cab it won't interfere with the hitch as it is just a few inches higher than the bed rails and it is a long bed 3500 Dodge Dually. I ran into a fellow in Ely, NV who mounted his fuel tank next to the tail gate but he had to lift the hitch over the tank and then lower it to hitch up. My tool box is only as high as the bed rails and I've had this tank sitting around for at least a half dozen years. I suppose Transfer Flow or Northern Tool would be a better solution.
FYI, a friend installed a tank and everything worked well until the electric fuel pump quit. Are you aware that a gas fuel pump is not compatible with diesel? Me neither but I am now.

Adding an aux fuel tank is one of the best mods I made. Mine is the RDS 60 gal tank/toolbox from Northern tool, with gravity feed, and I added a manual shut off valve.
My aux tank only holds about 50 gal instead of 60 like it says, but I don't care. 50 gal. extra is fine with me.

I thought that the after market truck tanks were too expensive for the small amount of extra fuel they offered, so I bought the bigger aux. tank/toolbox. Never regretted it.

My 2013 Ecoboost holds 36 gals of fuel and that's about all my bladder can stand. LOL

Titan makes tanks for in-bed and stock replacements. I replaced my stock one with a 67 gallon tank. One of the best mods I ever did. They are good, but not cheap
