Advice on Replacing Couch that has Air Mattress

To All,
Our 2010 Blue Ridge 5v came new with a couch with air mattress. We have used it very little. Now, for some reason, it will not stayed aired up, has very slow (& hard to find) leak. Very disgusting! We just need something for our 4 year old granddaughter to sleep on periodically.

Our old 2003 prowler had a table that made into a bed. It might not have been super-comfortable, but it was trouble-free & worked great. We do not want another air mattress!
Anyone have any solutions on what to replace the couch with?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Many metropolitan areas have an "UFO Outlet" upholstery jobber that suppplies home and commercial users with a variety of materials depending on thickness and firmness needs, and can recommend an expert cutter if needed. DO NOT put yourself, your children, or your dog on anything resembling a hollow-tube air mattress, unless the manufacturer gives you an R-value of 5.0 or greater. Those things are only intended for use at home in heated enclosures. Camping should be comfortable and restful, don't torture anyone by using an air mattress. Mom's Alegro had one inside the sofabed, but the RV also had a huge furnace and two big AC units, LOL.
  • Sdianel - can you repost the link to the foam mattress? It only seems to take me to yahoo mail sign on. We are looking to replace our air mattress with a foam one! Thanks!.
  • E-Z option/s -

Replace the couch with something *you* like - whether it's the entire unit - or just the mattress.

Don't use the couch - ever or not very often?

    The $20 solution.....

Pack along an air mattress (from Wally, etc.) for the grand-daughter, and let her sleep on the floor.
(No big deal - when most of us were kids, we slept in sleeping bags on the ground outside - or on the floor of a tent, *no* airbag)

The hide-a-bed couch from our 5th sits in the family room at home.
The original recliners long gone & upgraded - table and 4 chairs replaced with drop-leaf table and two much more "user-friendly" chairs. (BTW - 5th is a top-of-the line Jayco)

Only took about 4 months to figure that one out!
    Space gained is outstanding!
If ordering a new unit again, would try to order "un-furnished".

  • We are replacing our couch, too. We have never used the air mattress. In fact, the last time the couch was opened up was at the dealer when we bought the trailer three years ago. The couch is so uncomfortable that we are just replacing the entire thing with a loveseat. Hopefully this will happen this weekend...if we can get the old couch disassembled well enough to get it out the door. The new loveseat is still in its box, and we will assemble it inside the trailer. Keeping our fingers crossed it doesn't turn into more of a project than we think it will be.
  • We just replace the mattress with walmart blow ups. Just the nature of the beast
  • We went through 3 air mattresses in the year of warranty. We bought a twin size air mattress and put it on the floor. Works fine.
