airbubble from toilet

Hello all,

When we flush the toilet we get a burp/bubble before stuff flows down. It acts as if there is no vent air. Could the vent be plugged. If so how do I clear it?

  • Don't know what kind of rv you have but on my 5th wheel, the pipe has a 45 degree angle to it going to the tank. If too much toilet paper and not enough water is flushed, it gets stuck in the pipe. A full toilet bowl of water is usually all that is needed to correct the problem.

I had one like that except instead of water to correct it, it needed a little prodding.
  • Thanks all for the help. I will go and flush it from the outside system and inside.

  • If your tank has been emptied and still does this then suspect that you have the pyramid built up and blocking the pipe going into the tank. The vent is the last choice even with a plugged vent stack there should be enough room for the air in the pipe to be compressed into the tank unless the tank is near full.
  • When mine did it the cause was the dreaded pyramid of poo. Rid x and a lot of water finally flushed it out.
