Alanta, Ga

Need advice on best way thru Alanta. We are coming from North heading South on 75. Towing a 40 Ft 5th wheel. Should be passing thru around 11am.

  • Good decision. The by-pass interstate is congested and will beat you to death anyway. We went straight through last year at rush hour on a Friday. Slowed down and heavy traffic right through the heart of downtown. Otherwise no issue. Certainly no worse than I-4 through Orlando. LOL! Safe travels.
  • Straight through...

People will cut you off...at least they did with my 32ft TT and cc lb Dually. They don't care down there....just maintain your lane, back off when someone darts in front of you and you will be fine.

    Thanks!

  • Go straight through and as others have said do not get in the right lane. Take a nerve pill or a bottle of JD and you should be fine. Watch out for crotch rockets that like to zip between cars going 90+ mph, they'll scare the bejeses out of you if you don't see them coming.
  • We went through there last year in June at about 3:30 in the afternoon. I had nightmares thinking about it. We just kept our eye on the Garman and had no problems at all, and we had a 32foot class C pulling a 20 foot bass boat. I think they only allow local big trucks on that highway, all other long distance rigs go around. Good luck and have a safe trip.
  • Same thing - straight thru that time of day. Done it many times. But, I wouldn't use the HOV lane; too fast and they tailgate too much for a camper to make a quick stop.
  • I'd go strait through. We try and make it through about 10:00AM - 11:00AM and dont have any issues. You are able the use the HOV lane if you'd like and that can help sometimes.
My rule for I-75 through Atlanta is stay in the 2nd lane from the right. Anytime you merge with another interstate make sure to keep in the 2nd lane, the far right lane will usually end up being an exit only lane.
