Allen Fifth Wheels

Does anyone have any experience with the Allen Fifth Wheels? (Or any of the other "lite" fifth wheels). We are looking at the models under 27 ft.

We have a Dodge Ram (2008) 1500 Big Horn Edition, 4.7L, 20 inch wheel base with the heavy duty towing and cooling package. We haul a steel gooseneck stock trailer and like the way it pulls.

  • Looks like GVW of 7620# (one just under a 27' 5er ) is quite light. Don't see why your truck shouldn't be able to tow it. Figure a pin weight of 1500# or so that you would possibly put on the hitch in the bed of your truck...I'd weigh the truck and see what weight is on the drive axle and subtract that from your truck RAWR, (will be listed on drivers side door or door jamb. The difference will be how much pin weight you can put in the bed of your truck without going over your trucks rear axle weight rating.

Also, if you have "P" rated tires, you will probably want to go to an "E" rated tire...

Not that familiar with specs on the 1/2 tons, but seems like a fairly light weight 5er to me.
  • I don't have one but they are built in Oklahoma and have been in business since 1958. They must be doing something right to be around this long.
