They are worth it, but I am going to be pi$$y all next week that I spent my weekend stupidly and inefficiently instead of enjoying it. It would be such a simple thing for someone to meet us at the cabin, which is a 30 minute drive for them, on Friday night.
I agree with making my spouse happy and I love doing things with and for my kids. But there is a point where my happiness has to be taken into account too.
Yes, I agree your happiness is important too and did not mean to imply otherwise. I have occasionally sucked it up and done something I consider a waste for my family, and my wife has occasionally for me too, give and take.
I wrote my first reply while you were posting the second time where you mentioned you just saw these people LAST WEEK, which puts it in a different light. If this was the only time for the year or the summer you were going to see them, I would just do it. You saw them LAST WEEK, so I would agree it is a bit ridiculous, but I would probably still do it. The following weekend however would be mine :)
