Allowing my SO to take our unit for the weekend ?

No way I would let my DW perform this task although she does a decent job of driving our rig down the road. It's the parking, hitching/un-hitching, leveling and general set-up that she has little familiarity with. How you decide to go from there has been outlined several times by prior responses. Whether that puts you in the so called "doghouse" then so be it, one must do the right thing regardless of it's popularity.
