Analog/Digital

We have a new 2013 Montana 5th wheel. First issue re TV - when watching TV via Antenna we cannot turn certain lights on in the bedroom area without the TV signal going out on all TV's. Second issue - when hooked up to cable we can only get clear picture on digital channels. All analog channels on the cable system are fuzzy. We are beginning to wonder if something is not connected right from the dealer or a wiring issue. Any suggestions?
  • Many manufacturer's of RV's are installing LED lighting in their units now. They buy the cheapest ones they can find to keep costs down.

They have no idea about how they can interfere with television signals in the RV. If they actually cared they would use quad shielded RG6 coaxial in the RV and make sure the brand of LEDs used have been tested with their televisions being used and all lighting turned on before shipping.

That is one of the very reasons I have no urge to trade my current Class C MH. My double-amplified television set has very excellent range.

I won't be replacing any bulbs with LED until I absolutely have too. I will not purchase any newer motor-homes that have televisions, switch-boxes built-in because it is next to impossible to get at connections on the back on the components. They get loose from vibrations from travelling.

Removing screws from panels to have access for checking is futile since the woodwork is fake and screw-threading will fail after a few times of removing the panels.
  • Are those LED's that you have the problems with? That is actually quite common, and it's severity depends on allot of things from the distance and positional relation of the antenna to the LED, the strength of the station into the antenna, etc. Fluorescent's occasionally have the same problems.

The other CATV problem you likely have no control over, but be happy that the digital channels at least work. The only possible help MIGHT be a line amp between the pedestal and the input to the RV.
  • If you're hooked up to cable, the antenna booster needs to be turned off, or you get fuzzy images. The other sounds like a wiring issue?
