Call it what you want, it is still a ball hitch, and requires safety chains in most states. It is not a 5th wheel in the true terms of pin and plate.
Safety chains are not required on a fifth wheel hitch... The safety lanyard does the work.. Also the lanyard should be acceptable on the Anderson... Besides, what will those wimpy chains do? Bust? Break?, flip the trailer and the truck?.
