I was at a campground about a month ago and there was a nice guy pulling a Montana High Country 5er with with a 2017 short bed Ram and AUH. He had a couple of pin box bites on his tailgate so he switched the adapter forward and towed with it successfully for a couple of thousand miles. He got into a situation that involved a sharp backing turn and a driveway and took out his rear window and dented his cab. I guess I am saying there are scenarios that will cause a trailer to impact a truck bed.
