The ORIGINAL Companion did dent the beds of NEWER thinner beds. They were designed when the beds were thicker and could take the fore and aft forces from that eras hitch.
I removed my 18k Companion from my 98 RAM with no bed dents and used it in my 11 RAM towing at the hitch 18k limit and did have bed deflection.
I contacted B&W they sent spacers so the hitch would transfer the load to the lower corrugation of the bed and then to the crossmembers and then frame.
During that time they were engineering the 20k Companion that does transfer weight to the solid part of the bed.
ANDERSEN is not doing there job by not designing the Ultimate to transfer the weight as B&W has.
