Been using the steel version of the Anderson ball mount for 3 years. I also have the adaptor in the reverse position. Get a rubber mat to place under the entire AUH frame. Tractor supply, Rural Farm etc has them. Buy the crow foot adaptor as was previously mentioned. Only tighten the two sleeve bolts after you’ve dropped the fiver on the ball and using the crow foot adaptor on your torque wrench, tighten to 60 ft.lbs.(Andersen has revised the torque requirements from 50 to 60)..
I have found that I need to loosen the sleeve bolts, retorque the top bolt and tighten the sleeve bolts periodically. It's not a install hitch at the beginning of the season and forget it. The top bolt will need to be retorqued throught out the camping season.
Following these guidelines, I have had no issues with a bent/damaged bed.
