I flipped my adapter because I was concerned about the back of my pinbox hitting the side rails of my bed. It puts the original king pin about over the axle. So, maybe 3" farther forward than you have yours.
That's exactly what I did. I noticed that the rear of the pin box on a 90deg turn could hit the side of the bed. By reversing the adapter I moved the king pin forward about 5-6in and gave myself plenty of bed clearance.
