Have you tried running the coupler in the forward position (ball in front) with the MorRyde pinbox? Does it cause problems? Asking because Im looking at picking up a MorRyde pinbox soon. I would think running the coupler the other direction with a short bed truck is going to create cab clearance issues when turning/backing
You are correct in that having the Andersen ball in front does add more clearance for a short bed. My issue was the pinbox length. By moving the pivot point forward I in effect shortened the tail that swings within the bed. The Curt helps me recover 4 of the 8 inches I lose when reversing the kingpin adapter. Without the Curt I would be too close to the cab. Without the adapter reverse my pinbox tail scrapes my truck bedrail. Its the combination of the two that makes it work for me. I did a full 90deg. jackin' into a spot at a Tucson resort and although I took it really, really slow, we cleared fine.
By the way there several different mor/Ryde models. Mine is the plain Jane Lippert 1621 clone. Not the one with the rubber cushion plate.
