I towed for the 3rd trip with my Andersen Ultimate aluminum hitch. Nobody died, nothing broke, nothing came unhooked, nobody twisted, turned or pulled my unlocked handle...must be an anomoly... ...

The frame crossmembers as you call them are sheet metal pieces called top hats and part of the bed. They are not as strong as actual frame cross members and can be crushed just like the sheet metal bed floor. Chris
