I am considering the new aluminum Andersen Ultimate for my potentially new short bed truck, 2017 Chev 3500 SRW. The question is with the setback of the Andersen Ball in relation to the truck bed ball causing the center of weight distribution to be behind the rear axle and not slightly in front of it or at least directly over it.
My experience was different than the other posters. At first, I had my pin centered two inches behind the rear axle (B&W hitch), this gave me the cab/cap clearance but also gave me occasional chucking on the highway.
I moved the the pin center directly over the axle and that stopped the chucking action but caused me to hit the truck cab with the fiver's cap, not once but twice (I'm embarrassed to tell you this) at $1,800 repair cost each time. I ended up switching to an auto-slider hitch.
I'm running a RAM 3500 SRW with a 6'4" bed pulling a Montana 3790RD.
