Fish.....The Anderson hitch has nothing to do with the OP's issue. Faulty/improper installation combined with a too heavy pin weight for a 1/2 ton is the issue.
The B&W turnover ball is installed 1" in front of the axle this is per B&W's specs. The Andersen mounts on top of that. It only installs one way and that is with the arrow pointing to the rear of the truck. I called Andersen and asked if the hitch could be reversed and they said NO... The coupler is reversed which brings it closer to the cab of the truck NOT farther away.
A 1200 lb pin weight is not too much weight for a half ton truck.
To reiterate: The AUH didn't work with either my 29rs or my new 220 rk. The AUH unloads the axle to the point that the steering is too loose. As soon as I installed a borrowed B&W Companion which weighs 200 lbs more than the AUH (and in your expert opinion would overload the truck even more and make the truck worse not better) all of my troubles went away. The problem is the AUH sets too far back and unloads the axle on my half ton truck.
Maybe with a Titan with the diesel or a GMC steel bodied with a heavy V8 it would be ok. It does not work with a new 1/2 ton F150.
