- prfssrExplorerI have had the steel version of the Andersen for 2 1/2 years. I have towed a 13k front living (8,000 miles) and now a 15k Heartland LM (2200 miles). As someone earlier said I removed my center headrest from my 2015 1 Ton Dually Ram and can view the hitch (ball) with no problem. I use a Curt gooseneck ball that fits in the puck system of the bed. I then use the Curt safety chain that fit into the puck system for added safety. I usually place the ball of the Andersen in it's most upright position so I get maximum clearence of my bedrail and my 5th wheel sits level. I thouroughly inspect all weld joints prior to every trip due to any potential weak points. I really like this set up as I use the bed of my truck for a lot of things and I can take this in and out by myself easily.
Everyone has their preference just like the make of trucks so for me the cost, easability of removal and smoothness of the ride is perfect. Good luck on your quest and happy camping. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

I suggest you call Andersen and ask for Jason. When I changed my std. LCI 1621 pinbox for a morRyde rubber pinbox (Forest River made the change for Free) I was concerned that the rubber cushion plate wouldn't work well with the Andersen Ultimate. In fact morRyde sells an adapter for that pinbox If you are using a cushioned-style 5er hitch (the Ultimate itself is solid, not cushioned).
I spoke with Jason and it turns out that the Ultimate/morRyde combo is their most popular setup. That's what I run now and it's been great. As far as Airborne, he can tell you what if any setup changes would work best for you. Andersen customer service is excellent and responsive.
I too have the MorRyde pin box, was surprised at how much smoother things got when I switched to the Andersen . Probably the best combination out there, not sure how towing could get any smoother - cummins2014Explorer

I have wondered for the past couple years what there is with a couple members here on the subject of the Andersen . They both continually bash the Andersen for whatever reason. One of them has refrained on this thread , but the other one is still trolling this thread.
Both these gentlemen ( and I use that word loosely ) have never used or owned an Andersen hitch .Hard to understand why they continue to troll a subject they have no experience with. - hbillsmithExplorer

The PullRite SuperGlide requires more maintenance then any hitch I have ever owned. It's also the most finicky about trailer hitch height for hitching/unhitching of any hitch I've owned.
It's also the heaviest hitch I've ever owned, to remove it from the truck I had to "hitch" then pull the bed-pins and pull the hitch that way. To re-install took me from 15 to 60 min to get the truck and hitch lined up.
But it does exactly what it is intended to
The biggest down side I have found with the Andersen is how high I have to raise the trailer to hitch/un-hitch. I have about 3 inches of clearance in my RV port at that point.
Due to the geometry of my trailer I can't open the "generator" bay when connected to the Andersen, this was a problem my first time out as that was where I had my leveling blocks.
But it also does exactly what it is intended to and is the quietest hitch I have owned in years.
Big reason my friend got rid of the Superglde, got tired of how finicky it was to hitch and unhitch . He couldn’t be happier with the Andersen

You might want to stick to what you know, you obviously are still just trolling the Andersen threads.
You totally missed the point of what he is trying to do , he wants an easy lightweight hitch to remove without a hoist . I fully understand having to use an electric hoist in my garage. It’s a pain and can be dangerous if not hooked up correctly. Nothing fun about backing under the hoist hooking up the hitch, pulling out from under it and stowing away. That all goes away with the Andersen
