Another GPI Pump Problem

The last time I had a problem with my pump, GPI sent me a new pump. I had tried sanding the gears and all that on the original pump and it never worked right.
At the time I heard of the metal replacement gears but now I can't find any info on it, either through a search here or on Google. I am seeing info about gray gears that have proper resistance to swelling. Does anyone have any info on the newer gray gears or where to buy the metal gears?
Thanks,
Steve

I had a leaking o-ring in my pumps swivel handle/nozzle. It only leaked if it hasn't been used for month or more. After it leaked the first time from non-use('drying up the o-ring..?),,, rest of the trip/season it was always fine no leaks at all... The hose also gets hard as a rock, till that first use of the season, then its also fine.

Pump was original WW and way out of warranty. Called and got transferred to the tech dept. The tech told me he went out to Glamis on many of the busy weekends for WW, since they were having problems with the pump gears in the TH's. He explained how he's worked on many many WW back in the day, for GPI.The guy was really helpful, he sent me out a nozzle handle rebuild kit and a new set of the grey gears.

Never opened up the gear package since my pump has been flawless since new. Guess race fuel doesn't swell up the gears..? The clear plastic bag the new style gears came in let me see that they are greyish pot metal color. I thought they were plastic, but as I said, haven't even taken them out of the bag so not sure of the material...

I'd call GPI up and and explain your problem, maybe they will send you out a set of gears. From my experience with them, seems the customer service is outstanding as i never even asked for a set of gears but they did send me one no charge. Actually it was no charge for anything they sent.

Thats good to know. I had a problem last week with it not turning, ran the tank dry in May and thought that the gears had swelled up. Got it to work with the help of a hammer! I only use non ethanol fuel so I cant blame it on the corn. Worked fine all last week at the beach. I will call GSI and talk to them.
  • My EZ-8RV pump has blown its fuse twice now.

Could be swollen gears? Curious what GPI says.
  • Talked to GPI today and they referred me to an outfit he called ECI when I told them the pump is on a toy hauler.

ECI said it sounds like a blocked pickup. I have no idea who ECI is.

I don't know for sure why my 15amp fuse is blowing, but I ordered gear kit # 13750005 from class A customs just in case the gears are swollen.
  • ECI is the manufacturer of the fuel tank. They are out of California. I have dealt with them once and they were great. However, I doubt that is causing you to blow fuses, but it's easy to test. Take the suction line off of the pump. Go get a few feet of fuel hose, connect to the pump, drop the other end into a full 5 gallon gas can. Grab an empty 5 gallon gas can and pump the gas back and forth between the gas cans. If the fuse blows, the problem isn't in the tank.

I'm gonna bet the problem is in the pump.
