- gboppExplorerI leave the carpets on all the time. I remove them and check for rust every spring. Repaint as necessary.
- tvman44ExplorerMine have been on for the past 5 years, no reason to take them off. :)
- kennethwoosterExplorerYep leave them on. You may need to spray them with water if you travel through a lot of water and mud, but really haven't even had much of that problem. They are a good asset as it will help keep inside clean.
- DutchmenSportExplorerThe green indoor-outdoor stuff for steps has been on my TT since the first day I bought it and it's never come off. Did the same with our TT before that. If you loose as spring, you can always just use a bit of wire and wire through the eye-holes. When the carpet gets worn, you can make your own with just a scrap left over bit of carpet or rug. I had to replace one (have 2 steps) after years and years of service ... never removed. I had a bit of green in-door out-door carpet and just cut it out big enough to wrap around the step. Got the springs (extras laying around different campsites we've been to over the years .. quite obvious someone took them off and on and lost them). Another reason to never take them off!
- wtravlr1ExplorerI left mine on all the time and they trapped water and the stairs rusted underneath.
- twins89ExplorerOn ! don't worry, fold up the steps before you pull out and go. Twenty years of camping, I've never had one come off. If you check them once a year to see the grommets and spring are good, you will be fine.
- R12RTeeExplorerI ditched the springs and used wire ties to secure them. Always on.
