So the more I read these kind of posts, the sicker I feel. My '07 F250 with the 6.0 has a GCWR of 23000 lbs, GVWR of 10000 lbs, Rear GAWR of 6100 lbs, and then you look at the payload sticker......2356 lbs. It's going to be tough finding a fifth wheel that isn't overloaded.
You are correct. It might be tough to find a 5er that won't put you over the GVWR. That is where the disagreement amongst folks exists.
There is one perspective, that as long as you stay below your Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR), you will be okay, even if you exceed your GVWR by a small(ish) amount.
There is another perspective that is pretty much hard over, and live by the numbers, and want to be under all numbers (GAWR, GVWR and GCWR).
It's up to you which way to go. I don't have a 5er (yet), but when/if I head down that path, I may be more focused on the GAWR and if I bust the GVWR by a little bit, I may accept that. It all depends, and Im not there yet. But, to get a comparable 5er to my TT now, I will have to exceed my GVWR, or buy a full ton.
