Any experience with drop n lock gooseneck hitches?

Looking at installing a gooseneck hitch in my F350. In my research the drop n lock hitch would come up. Looking at these hitches I like the design. They have been building them since 1987. I plan on using an Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel connection for my future fiver or a gooseneck adaptor if our fiver can handle it.

I like that I don't have to rely on any springs or pins or get out of the truck bed to latch the ball.

Here is a link to their site. What are your thoughts? Anybody have any experience with this hitch?

We've been told that some manufacturers won't warranty their units if you use anything other than an Anderson unit with their product. One reason we went with a standard fifth wheel hitch, despite having a gooseneck ball in the bed, is that he likes the stability of the fifth wheel plate. Must be the semi driver coming out...

Thank you, here is a neat video about the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Hitch and a Crush Test of the hitch.

The crus test is pretty amazing IMHO.

  • I think it's around $350.00 ... Not sure about shipping.

I'm considering the B&W but I have been leaning really towards the Blue Ox Diamond Hitch because the ball can be locked from the bed and doesn't have the extra handle...then I saw this one and I really like the design.

    Thanks!

  • Looks like it is well built. What is the price compared to the B&W? If you go with the B&W, you may be more flexible in that you can go to a companion 5th wheel hitch at any time in the future.
