Phil, I'm assuming that the ball is flipped in the stowed position. If that's the case, the only thing you can really do is to keep up with the penetrating oil and some banging on the ball from underneath. I had to do this once after I'd had some sand in my bed and it just wedged the ball in the socket. You can't pry on the small lifting pin as it will bend. If it's badly stuck, you might have to sacrifice the ball and weld on a loop to get a hook on it to lift. FWIW, we used to use Mistic Metal Mover on rusted nuts and bolts. It's very volatile, but penetrates quickly. A friend told us that they used to use something called Panther Piss; no lie! A quick look shows it now being called PB Blaster, and a lot of people swear by it. :-)
Thanks guys!...keep the thoughts/suggestions coming
That is correct...the ball is turned upside down and in the stowed position so there is nothing to hook to from the top side.
I have considered heating the area/socket but that makes me a little nervous and trying to wait on that until I have exhausted other options.
I had not considered welding something from the top side to give me something to hold on to...that may be what I try next.
If I can find somewhere to take it to that has a lift I feel like I could have a better chance swinging a hammer at it or maybe putting a pc. of pipe on it so I can get a sledge hammer on it. I was even trying to think about using some type of a jack hammer tool but it's almost impossible to get a straight shot at it.
I will keep spraying with the PB Blaster and beating from the underside...maybe it will ultimately loosen up. If I ever get it out it will stay out!
Thanks,
Phil
