Are both generators equal?

By electric start it means you push a button to start it using a built in battery rather than pull starting it with a pull rope.

Those are REALLY BIG generators. Why do you think you need something that big ?

They will cost a lot of $$$. The Black Max does have a Honda engine but is NOT manufactured by Honda. The Black Max will also be loader (extremely LOUD) and will consume a lot more fuel (more than 1/2 gallon per hour). Plus the Black Max weighs 300+ lbs ! Even with wheels, that is a lot to push around.

Wht kind of RV are you purchasing and what size of air conditioner does it have

Yes, what Theoldwizard1 said. How do you plan on loading and unloading it - check the weights with fill fuel tanks. You need to look at smaller gen sets.

A 7,000 watt generator is a big sucker, bigger than I've ever seen on a RV. I'm not saying there aren't any, just that the biggest I've ever seen is 5500 watts, with most smaller than that. I'm puzzled why you'd go that big.

For RV use, the most demanding thing you might want to run would be an AC or two. And weight being a premium, the smaller the better for a generator.

Sounds like you are looking at a stationary generator. Check out Onan and have it built in. You are not going to get a 7000 watt into your trailer without a crane,or a lot of friends.

The Honda EU7000i is by all accounts a great generator,it has mechanical fuel injection instead of carburetor, gets good fuel economy,and is relatively quiet, on top of all that it is an inverter generator model. By contrast the Black Max is a typical no name generator that just happens to have a Honda engine attached to someone elses generator end. Having said that do you need a 7000 watt generator, or would the smaller Honda EU3000i be enough, what do you need to power?

p.s. if the Honda EU3000i is too small, but you still want an inverter generator take a look at the Yamaha line up of Inverter generators like the Yamaha EF4500iSE in general I consider the Yamaha line of inverter generators as good or better than the Honda's.

The 2 models mentioned are not the same the 7000i is an inverter genset which mean it is quiet, produces clean power and is efficient. The black max is more of a contractor model meaning it is loud and inefficient.
Both are rather large and heavy for typical RV application. Both are too heavy to be truly portable.

You'll see a lot of 10k's on the big motorhomes.

That is true. Just to up the antey I was looking at a Newell the outher day that had a 20,000 watt generator. Just incase you needed to power a small town.
