Trailers of 102" wide have been legal in all 48 states and Canada for the last 20 years. In fact there is a Federal mandate of such, and there is a specific allowance of 2" per side for add on structures i.e. awnings slide toppers etc. I've seen semi trailers as wide as 106" wide under the provisions of the 2" add on, i.e. all the curtain sided semi trls you see are 106" wide.
