Significantly higher quality at slightly higher prices is the only way to shake up the RV market. In my view that is what Japanese cars did in the early 70's. Even before the oil embargo, Honda, Datsun and Toyota were selling like hot cakes on the West coast. Even used, prices were too much for me, would have gladly bought one. The only reasonably priced used cars were Opel Kadetts and Ford Cortinas that had decent fuel mileage and quality. A '67 Kadett wagon, purchased before the gas shortage, got me thru those times.
