We are making the switch from a travel trailer to a fifth wheel trailer. With our travel trailer we have Andersen levelers, plastic (Lego) levelers, etc. In the event of a sloping site do you ever have to raise a side before auto leveling a fifth wheel trailer? I'm unclear as to how much is acceptable for the auto leveling system.Thank you,The Piddlers

I’ve never had a really unlevel site. I just press the auto level button and let the system do its’ thing.

I've been on a few sites that were off enough for it to lift one set of wheels off the ground. No problems. Doesn't hurt anything.B.O.

I can tell you from experience that if the site is 3" unlevel, side to side, the auto level will NOT work. We try to get it as even as we can from side to side, then let the the auto-level do it's thing front to back.

I have been at sites where the auto level lifts the low side wheels off the ground to obtain level. I do not like have the wheels hanging in the air with all the weight on the jacks.When/if the wheels are lifted I will place boards beneath wheels to support the weight.If I notice a extremely unlevel site in advance of setting up I will place boards down and pull up on them the old fashion way to get closer to level before hitting the auto level button.

MerryKalia is right. We have the same problem and have only had them work correctly one time. I just go old school and don't use it at all. I'm thinking it was a waste of money. I hope you have better luck with yours.

There are some great YouTube videos that you might want to check out or contact Lippert. There are two sensors that determine level. One is probably in the front near your battery and the other above your axles. It’s possible one of those is loose.

We love our level up and I wouldn’t have a rig without it.

GHop, When I first got my 5er I had some issues with my auto level that were all user error and caused it to throw error messages. Get someone that has experience to walk you through it. Once it throws the error code you have to go to the touch pad inside to reset.

Agreed auto level is a fantastic feature.

Problem with solid wood is that it can split. I used to use 6x8x16" pcs of pressure treated. Plywood is stable.

These blocks are 10" high.

Before auto level I packed 12' square pcs of plywood ranging from 1/4" up to 1 1/8". No cupping of splitting. I still carry a few pcs.
