Awning arm position

Carefree electric awning arm was installed crooked by factory. The fabric is positioned correctly! The right side arm is at a slight slant such that awning extended arm overlaps the bracket attached to the rv. Appears only option is to move the attached bracket about 3/4" to the right. How can this be safely done? Again that bracket is obvious slanted to the left.

  • It seems you could take fixed arm loose, then drill a new hole in fixed arm, or elongate the existing holes to allow enough movement for better alignment.

I know the fixed arms on mine are sealed along the edges, but I think it could still be moved a little and resealed.

After looking at mine, it seems you'd be best off to remove the brackets, and replace with something similar, maybe even use an aluminum bracket. On mine the existing plastic brackets are not big enough to drill or slot, to gain 3/4 of an inch.

  • Not under warranty. It is a 2012 Crusader which I bought 3 yrs. ago. A photo might help but just envision the top overlay arm not enclosing the affixed arm under it at the top. This prevents the awning from closing all the way. The top of the affixed arm needs to be moved about 3/4" to the right for the total closing. The affixed arm is slanting slightly to the left and cannot be corrected unless new holes are drilled. There is not enough adjustment in the bracket without drilling.
  • Is this under warranty? Take it back to the dealer. If you mess with it, you'll void your warranty should things go awry.
