Awning on slide

Can a awning be added to a slide? Not a slide topper actual awning to sit under.

  • Yes. Saw one on a Jayco and when we ordered our new Big Country, asked if it could be done on it and was told yes. This is addition to slide toppers. Don't know the length just yet for each.
  • Yes you can. Keystone, Dometic and my dealer said no way because I had slide toppers and the awning would be under 9 feet and Dometic did not make a 9200 that short. So I bought the 10 foot power awning that matches my big one, and a sewing machine. Cut down the awning tube and the awning itself to my spec then sewed the edge back up along with the spines for the tube. Mounted the track to the sidewall under the topper with 24 screws in epoxy. Put a nice color changing led strip under it and it looks like factory. This was 16 months and 5k miles ago and it is still perfect. I don't like to be told you can't do something when I know good and well it can be. We can send a rocket to the moon so I know we can put an awning on my slide. Go for it!
  • Yes curb side. We bought a Cougar 336BHS in October and this awning compared to our old trailer is so small and very high. So is there a preference on model or manufacture that is better?
  • X3 on the Pop-ups !!! Like the bear II noted, more flexibility and A lot cheaper !! Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
  • When we first got our Outback, I wanted to add an awning to the front slide, and still keep the one that factory installed above the door.

Talked to my dealer, gave him all the information like length, etc, and even the numbers of the existing awning to see if we could get a match.

Turns out, we could not get an awning on that slide, because they don't make them that short! We needed to be about 4 inches longer for one to fit. ARRR! No awning.

So we just decided to continue using our Quick Shade. We ended up getting 2 when our 10 year old one finally died.

  • Yup. Have on on my curb side slide that is 10 feet. With the 20 foot main awning, I have almost the whole side of the camper dry if it rains.
