Awning repair

Our awning is separating from sun damage just on the part exposed while rolled up. Can one trim the awning (or have it done) and re-sew the anchor strip in to save a buck on a new awning? I would think we would loos about a foot of extended awning space...

  • I thought about that approach, but ended up replacing the awning with fabric that includes the ABS weatherguard.

Not a hard job. Videos on U-Tube. Just be SURE he roller is pinned before you cut anything loose, I used a long shank Allen wrench, but coat hanger wire would do.
  • I used leftover Bus Kote and it worked great!
Just treated the part that shows.

  • I have helped 2 friends remove their awnings so they could cut off the damaged section and resew the strip. Both awnings are working fine after being re-installed.
