Not sure if this is what you are talking about as it was a CareFree product that I installed on my last fifth wheel.
When I ordered there was an option for metal covers which fully covered the rolled up portion of the awning material. Not really thinking much about it, when I hear somebody mention cover in an RV situation I usually go for it.
Then I found out that it was a small leaf and pine needle motel. They check-in but cannot check-out. So as others that had slide topper awnings without metal covers were happily rolling in their slides and watching all the leaves and stuff fall off, I was getting out the ladder to sweep off the top before putting the slide in.
