We are up here now in Anchorage, having come up through the Yukon over the Top of the World Highway, through Fairbanks, etc., etc. Lots of good road and some bad road too. The absolute worse is the TOW highway once you cross the border INTO the US/Alaska. I was actually clocking 8 mph at one point. Not a busy day on the road, didn't have to worry about people behind me, but if someone showed up, like a truck. . . I pulled over when I could and let them pass.
We have followed the advice of the "experts" and slowed way down when the road was bad or in road construction. I and no one else have to pay for repairs on my rig and I don't plan on having any that I created. We are in a small motorhome, and lots of people sail past us towing cars, trailers, etc.
We haven't found the incidence of bad roads to be much different than anywhere else. Slow down and be safe.
