Bad day, need input

Sorry guys been busy. I have been unable to take it to a repair facility yet. The repair facilities and my insurance said to wait until I have a clear day with no chance of rain to tow it. That will not be until Tuesday if the weatherman has the forecast correct. Insurance and the repair facility said to tarp it in-place and try to dry it out, and if I felt it would help to remove some of the carpet but to take pictures prior to and after the removal. I removed the carpet and the wood was extremely wet, and the unit now has a very strong mildew smell. I have been running commercial fans and a dehumidifier in the unit. I feel this is a lost cause at this point. I am just worried the damage is going to be worse the longer we wait to get the ball rolling on this.

First, I'm glad you are okay and your family is okay. Sounds like some bad storms. Second, your rates shouldn't go up for a Comprehensive claim. So far you've done everything right. You mitigated (fancy insurance word that means you minimized follow up damage)your loss and you have pictures. Very smart to run the A/C to pull out as much moisture as possible. Hopefully, you aren't plugged into a standard 120v outlet.
I would advise against any more disassembly to uncover damages. An insured being too helpful is a "red-flag" and may be misunderstood.
I really doubt that a "patch" will be considered. Let the insurance company do there thing by writing an initial estimate. Ask them for their recommendation for some decent repair facilities. Do your own homework on the same subject. Choosing a competent, professional repair facility is the single most important decision you will make. Once you make your choice, use them as an advocate. Ask them if the estimate is sufficient to "make you whole" which your insurance company is contractually liable to do. Ask the repair shop, "if it was your camper what would you do"? Listen to them. Tell them you are ready, able and willing to call and raise a stink, if it becomes necessary. Be an active partner in the repair process without trying to dictate how things should be done.
Mold/Mildew requires a proper environment to colonize. Dry it down, keep it dry with good air movement and you can't get mold/mildew. However, insist if any carpet is replaced that the batting underneath get replaced, too. If a "detailing" is written to avoid carpet replacement; ask that the carpet be removed and allowed to dry out of the unit.
State Farm is typically "good people". They are not wanting to upset you and they certainly don't want to spend good money on advertising to attract a new customer to replace you. Mention that. Say, "save some advertising money by working with me and I'll tell 3 of my friends how good you've been". If they earn it by treating you right -- tell 3 of your friends.

This is when you find out how good your insurance is. My carrier (Progressive) gave me a couple of choices of repair facilities for my roof repair. Using their preferred shop, they guarantee the work, and will cover any "overages". The adjuster had me deliver it to the body shop, then took a look at it, and decided to repair it rather than total it out. They paid out 10K on an 8 year old rig.

The repair took about three weeks though, so your May trip may be in jeopardy.

I hit a tree, when caught in a bad place. Took to my repair man and left in Amarillo. Progressive went to his place and checked damage. Went to an RV repair shop and Progressive said if it went over he would pay more, which they did. Full Body Paint and took some painting as well. My insurance did not go up. Cost close to 8000.00. Use your insurance

Are you sure you need to take it in some place? I would think they would send an adjuster out to you.

I too had a inside fire in our home 10 years ago. It didn't change my rates at all.

I did shop around and have since changed insurance companies. I had been with the previous one for 20+ years.

New agent said they didn't count storm damage against you, as I had a storm related claim last year.

Have State farm and over the last 40 years (went with them in 1972) no one has came close to beating their price and have had several claims. 4 houses, RV, 2 commercial work trucks,F350 dually TV, and new Arcadia suv for the wife.
Always have had great service, quick claims, and most important only raised price on one car involved in accident as the then step son was a 3 time hit.
The rv will be covered as if it is your 2nd home if parked at home (mine is replacement cost).

My personal best was 23 squad calls in a 24 hour shift. Man did I sleep well the next day.

I it all depends on the tones and how many people call 911. I am going to station we call vacation station so it is usually slow, but with my luck it will be nonstop

I hope a 24hr shift doesn't mean you actually have to be awake for 24 hours.
