bathroom flooded,,,reasons?

hi there me again
question: the water was off in campground for two-three days
I went for a long walk with the new puppy came back I did see a pump truck in the campgournd I knew there was a problem with pump and their well...ok so water back on HURRAY washed all the dishes up,
NO water pressure but maybe everyone using the water since it was off.
walked into the bathroom FLOODED toilet full of water overflowing...doesnt seem to want to shut off I found the shut off ok so its off...why is this I see black tank is full not sure if because the water was just running and running into toilet. not sure why this is...
I am about to go dump black tank now but is there any other reason this might have happened?
thanks in advance

  • Might be water valve (in toilet) that failed. (the one that puts fresh water in to flush) They fail open. Has happened to me 3 times. Fix is to replace water valve. That is why I always turn off park water when leaving the rv.
  • Netjam I believe you are correct it is at the least constantly a slow drip or a bit faster so I have turned off water to toilet until I can get it replaced! Thank you!
    Nice that it fails open
  • Assuming the seal at the bottom of the bowl is working correctly, it doesn't explain why the black tank filled up. It seems unlikely that the seal AND the water flush valve would fail at the same time. Is it possible the black tank was full before you went on your walk?
  • Did someone turn on your tank flush hose? That happen the rig behind us. The park replace his dripping water supply valve and turn BOTH his hoses back on. 10 or 15 minutes "things" hit the fan!!!! Not pretty!!! Carpet is being replaced, service master was there twice cleaning up. Belly had to be opened and cleaned. I leave my flush hose hooked up, however I have a shutoff of both ends of the hose. Trailer end is inside UDC compartment and not out in the open.

  • The flush pedal on our toilet in the fifth wheel must be seated by pushing up with the foot after flushing. Otherwise the flush water does not cut off completely. We had the trailer hooked up to city water when our daughter stayed in it at our house around Christmas. A middle of the night visit by our son-in-law with an incomplete shut off and a continuing trickle resulted in a full black tank and a flood by morning. Fortunately, I had dumped the tank, so the flood was basically clean water. Carpet shampooing, drying and a clean out & drying of the basement was in order. Fun times for the weekend before Christmas at about 6:00 a.m.
  • It's the flush valve in your toilet. Fix it quickly as it will only get worse.
I put a valve in the water supply line for stuff like this. The weekend our flush valve started acting up it came in real handy.
  • yes I noticed recently that I did have to push it up after flushing so I am sure it has failed now my problem is no transportation to get anywhere to get it right away so for now water to toilet is off...I am going to go inspect now even after dumping black tank it still said 2/3 full I know indicators are not accurate so will try to dump it again today since its a bit warmer outside....
    thanks guys!
  • I did have a shut off for the water supply hose at point where it entered the trailer making it easier than running back and forth to spicket clear on other side however it kept freezing inside that shut off stopping water coming in at all so I removed it for winter!
