Batteries

What is the best way to keep batteries charged during the winter while in storage with no electric, I don't want to bring them home.

Addendum: It is a FW with no Generator.

    • Don't want to bring them home
    • storage with no electricity

Not many options except generator or solar
  • I'm new to the RV world, but I live in an appartment and will be leaving our Class C in an outdoor storage lot when not in use. My plan for winter battery maintenance is to visit the storage, once a month or so, to run the generator. It's my understanding that is a good thing to do. While the generator is running, I'll put a charger on the batteries to top them off. Right or wrong that's my plan.
  • I take them out of the trailer and put them in my garage. I connect a battery charger to them every month for about 6 hours.

Batteries are still good - installed in the fall of 2011.

I check the water level and add as needed prior to charging. Only have to add water a couple times a year. Low water level can be a killer for the battery cells.
