Bed cover while towing 5er

Why not just secure the stuff in the truck bed? I use a combination of bungees to the corner hooks and the hitch. Nothing should be lifting out of my bed.

Wow!! My Retrax tonneau's back panel came apart after 5 years of use and Retrax sent me a new replacement free of charge, my experience with their customer service was excellent and I would recommend Retrax hands down!! As in previous posts I roll my Retrax tonneau up to the hitch and I'm good to go but mostly I like the fact it locks and is ridged, I keep my original locking tail-gate so when I'm not hauling my fiver I have secure locked storage in the bed of my truck and yes I lose 8" for the forward roller but I have a low-profile tool-box that sits under the tonneau, all in all I think it's the best tonneau for the job!!

I've never had a problem with my Ford teauna cover. I just roll it up and use the Velcro straps to hold it in place.

But, I regularly carry our fire ring grill and a couple of other things ahead of the hitch. Everything has something running over/through it to keep it in place.

I have a car top carrier (X-cargo) that I got from Sears many years ago. It fits perfectly sideways in front of my hitch in an 8ft. bed. It keeps everything out of the weather and it is lockable.

Anything I can think of would be more burden then worth it to have a roll up that would stay rigid around the hitch area when hooked up but allow ease of hitch/unhitch. I would just deal with the bed being open to elements when towing.

Bombfixer, how do you attach the netting to the truck?

The netting I use has hooks that attach to the rear tie downs in the bed and to the adaptor that my hitch is mounted on.
