Best hitch for Ford prep package

Just picked up a new 2014 F350 long bed with the hitch prep package. What are my best choices for ease, safety, etc? We are 50/50 on getting a new TH or FW, but will be keeping it around 35' and 12k #. Thanks.

I see where Ford offers the Reese

  • I just bought 2013 F350 DRW with the prep kit as well. I was going with the Pullright non slider that fits the Ford. Did some research on the internet, and with individuals with experience. I have my farm land leased to a guy that had used both. He definitely recommended the B&W, as well as my RV service shop. They sent me to a trailer shop, and they ordered me a B&W companion. He installed the hitch in about 30 minutes. I've pulled the 5th about 120 miles. It worked beautiful. Very simple, and easy to use.
  • Reese, B&W, and Pullrite all make hitches that drop into the Ford prep package without having to use adapter rails/frames. All are very good hitches.
I have the Reese Elite which is a very good hitch. I had a Pullrite in my previous truck and if Pullrite had had one for the Ford prep available when I bought my new one I would have bought one of those as Pullrite also makes a very good hitch.
B&W gets lots of good reports.
So I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
  • I Thought only Reese fit in the Ford prep. Maybe others are available now.
  • We have the 2012 F350 with long bed and hitch prep and we went with the Hensley Trailer Saver. Love how nice our ride is and know that the hitch is worth every penny!
