Best Used 5th wheel 26' or less

KZ/Sportsmen makes a dandy little 25' rear kitchen model with a slide. We had a 2008 model and it served us perfectly (sold it a year ago). Empty weight was 6,000 lb. exactly, GVWR was 7,200 so it was truly 1/2 ton towable. Their current model number is S235RK. KZ is well-known for their excellent customer service.

I also would say a used Alpenlite. High quality. Whatever you buy measure the overall length your self as going buy he model name can be deceiving. Some mfgs measure from the pin back.

I live at the end of a cul de sac (dead end street) and there is no room for a turn a round so I just back down my street when I return home to load or un load.

Some times I look like a drunken snake because i Loose the hinge point but I like my 30 ft Rockwood and tow it with an 08 Xtended Cab 8 ft bed Allison Duramax

Thank you all for the info. The reason we are limiting ourselves to max of 26' is due to turn around requirements to access our property. It is down a cul-de-sac and we have to turn around when leaving. More than 26' would be a challenge at best.

There are times when I really miss our ol' 24-5N. We could get it into places we can't get the new 29-5E. Yes, the bigger rig is roomy, it's nice to have the extra room when the weather turns bad. But I still miss the flexibility of the smaller unit.

Where do you get an AF for 10-20K. That means thousand right? I guess you are speaking of used ones?

We bought through a dealer in Boise, ID and had the unit built with the options we wanted from the OR factory in La Grande. Since we tow with an older F350 had to settle for a smaller unit due to the heavy weight. I really wanted the larger 32M. Our first 5th was a 281EFS Cougar that we used for 6 years. Then we bought a used '01 Holiday Scepter MH and used it for a couple years. After looking at units for a couple of years decided to go with the AF. Hoping to get it out on the road soon to try it out. Good luck in your search.

Quite honestly when buying a used fifth wheel it doesn't take too long to tell about the quality and how well it was taken care of. No matter the age, if it does not look and function as new just walk away.

IMHO it doesn't really matter that much about brand, year or model as much as condition and functionality. Brand/year/model may be somewhat important if you've plans on a lot of travel over dirt, mountains or bumpy roads, but if the floorplan doesn't work out, you'll have a unit that may be in one piece but you'll hate to live in. What really counts is if it will work for living in and what you want it for, but just as much if everything works and you don't need to put a lot of money in repairs in the first year.
