Big horn ordering question

I don't have experience with Bighorns, but if offered, I'd jump on the bigger brakes. IMO, you can't have =enough= brakes. I'd probably spring for disc brakes, if offered, too. The heavier axles don't hurt, either. From years of reading here, the G-rated GY are somewhat of an insurance policy since GY will, in many (if not most) cases pay to fix your trailer should a tire fail and cause damage. A lot of people are reporting good results with the Sailun G-rated tires, but Sailun will NOT warrant any damage...at least from what I've seen reported here.

On edit: I didn't read carefully enough and =ass=umed that the GY tire upgrade would include wheels, too, but if it already has G tires, then that's a =huge= markup by either the mfr or CW; on the order of 75% markup. As others have said, take the OEM tires and swap them yourself. Make sure to include the spare, too.

I've been in three camping worlds here in Florida. Other then buying things off the shelf that I'm already familiar with I would not let them vacuum and wash my 5th wheel much less buy one from or have them work on one.

I have a BigHorn 3070 34.5 long. 2012. Customer support has been outstanding, warranty work/service has been outstanding. I only dealt with the Heartland mfg. and/or my Heartland dealer in Oregon. I am not sure if I would buy a BigHorm from Camping World based on RV.net posts which have generally expressed concerns and compaints about Camping World's service. I bought my bigHorn from Guaranty RV in Junction city Oregon. There professional sales staff, (ask for Vance) service staff is just outstanding:) I drove 500 miles to buy my BH. They also took my 12 yr. old trailer as a trade in without ever seeing it and there were willing to drive half way to meet me and then tow it to Guaranty RV lot. Long story short, I am not real impressed with Camping World's sales or service.
1. GY "G" rated tires. My new trailer have Tow Master tires which I knew nothing about. I asked the sales associate if we could replace the tires with Good Years? Not a problem and the change was done at the Heartland Factory and no additional cost to me. I am paying about $250 in Ariz and calif. for the G rated tires. The price you quoted sounds sounds way out sack or some real profit for camping world. I have had great luck and no problems with these tires for the last 10 yrs..
2. I would call the Heartland customer service in Indiana and ask the price for the upgraded brakes and E-z lube axles from them.

#1- yes to the G rated G614's ... But at that price, save your money and buy yourself... That is if you plan on paying MSRP for those.... Haggle them into the deal..

#2- I went with the 12-1/4 X 3-3/8" brakes and there is a nice difference... I would suggest you go that route also....

Get the Goodyear tires, upgrade the axles, get dual pane windows, get the Yeti package. Big Horn is a great choice. Get the build sheet and the list price, then shop shop shop... We ordered our Big Horn, picked it up at the best price dealer and have never gone back. Heartland is great to deal with. Any future warranty needs, contact Heartland and tell them where you want service. They are good at being flexible.

Just my experience with CW sales is that some stores are good and other not so good. I would just visit and ask to look at some bighorns and see what how you feel about the sales person. The prices you are quoting are negotiable just like the trailer itself.

I would really ask if disc brakes are a option as it would be a better value upgrade in terms of performance. I would also find another dealer (not Camping World) to compare facts and prices. Randu

We specked out a Bighorn 3685RL and took delivery six weeks after signing the papers. Our dealer charged his cost on the Goodyear tire upgrade and that amount was an extra $1000 for five "G" rated tires. $2300 is extremely high for a tire upgrade.

Bighorn is an amazing unit and we really like ours. We have spent around 260 nights in this RV and have had only minimal issues.

Ok, don't keep us in suspense!!!!! What did you find out about your "Big Horn"? Did Camping World budge from their OUTRAGIOUS prices? Here is the phone # for Heartland customer Service 877-262-8032, ask for Ian Roberts. You might ask Heartland for the name of another dealer in your area. Camping World's outrageous prices for the up grades is any indication, how bad will they gouge for any maintenance or warranty work, are they going to complete repair work in a reasonable length of time? The answer is pretty obvious:(

If you have read many posts on this and other RV forums, you would already know the answer to this question.

My take: The risk is too high to involve Camping World on anything with more moving parts than a folding lawn chair.
