Black Tank Flush

Hope someone can set my mind at ease. I have a 2014 Arctic Fox 5'er and have had it out a couple of times. When I use the Black Tank Flush I'm not sure if it's working. I can hear the water running in the tank but it doesn't sound like it's spraying the tank.
I'm not sure how it works so maybe everything is OK?

  • I always put use a clear plastic adapter on the sewer pipe. Then I know how well the flush is working.
  • If you can hear the water running, it's working. If you have a clear drain elbow at the outlet, you should watch it to see the fluid go out.
  • Put a clear plastic adapter on the end of the RV's sewer pipe so you can see how clear the fluid is. It helps to close the black tank valve and allow the flushing water to enter the tank without draining out. I usually run it for about 30 seconds. Then open the valve and flush out any extra `stuff'. Repeat as necessary. The flush stream doesn't clean everything out.
  • There's supposed to be a rotary kind of spray head in the tank that I certainly can hear on ours. It's not a really loud noise, but it does make one and not just like water running into it. Short of sticking a camera probe down the toilet & trying to watch it, I don't know how you could verify it was actually spraying. Since your unit is brand new, I'd call the dealer & ask them about it. I wouldn't make a trip though unless I knew they'd look into it.
