I also would have taken a bit off the hitch and NOT off the expensive truck bumper.. But , my first step would have been to call directly.. I am not a fan of just sending an email and waiting for an answer... call me old school , I was always taught that the "squeaky wheel always gets the oil" ... I would have called their number listed
