Leaving on Wednesday for a five day trip, filled fresh water tank half full per tank indicator so we can start preparing and boom the water tanks holding brackets bent and the tank fell out. Wow that was a loud noise, shook the fiver and my son heard it from inside the house.
Pulled back the coroplast and both the fore and aft L brackets were bent downwards. I drained the tank and put a ratchet strap under it to keep it in place. Forest River will get a call first thing in the morning to see what they can do, still under warranty. if push comes to shove I'll remove the aft bracket and remove tank so we can still take our trip.
I'm just glad this didn't happen while pulling it down the interstate. Sorry,, just had to vent. I'd post pictures but only have a tablet.
Happy Fourth everyone.
Update 1....Of course FR is closed for the holiday. Spoke with my not so local dealer and said to remove the tank, enjoy our trip and bring them the tank and they will reinstall using a stronger bracket and straps they use to hold up fuel tanks. He said they make this repair a couple times each month and the warranty will cover it.
Now I just need to make a warranty to do list and make a road trip to Hotlanta.
Happy and safe fourth all.
Update 2. My son and I removed the tank and cheap arse L bracket. Sealed up all hoses, secured all wiring and replaced the coroplast.
Things I learned today. Dropping a cinder block on your finger really hurts. Gorilla tape is awesome for repairing the coroplast that was torn from the tank falling through it. Gorilla tape is very sticky and it sucks pulling a piece off your arm. Make sure when you travel you have a good socket set, ratchet straps, jack and something to lay out on, gravel gets uncomfortable real quick.
My son is happy we will still be leaving on Wednesday a little lighter and hope that we do not need on board water.
