Just curious where everyone hooks their breakaway cable while towing. I usually hook mine to the release lever on my hitch but it does seem like enough. If the trailer ever becomes disconnected, it won't pull the cable far enough to engage the trailer brakes.

I hook mine to the release also. I figure if my toyhauler comes unhooked, the pin box will go right on through my tailgate.

Same here, but looking to find or create a better location!! This after the cable hung up on the hitch and pulled the pin while backing into an uphill blind side space, NOT a fun experience!!!!!

I have a closed end hook that is connected to the bar that my hitch is mounted to. I unscrew the opening in the hook, and put the loop in there. It is solid.

I have an Andersen Ultimate hitch system. The spring-latch caribiner on my break-away cable clips nicely on a small cross-bar on the Andersen hitch.

I connect mine to a cargo tie down hook at the rear of the bed. That way it does not interfere with the hitch. I also bought one of these:Hitch CableThis keeps the cable from becoming entangled.

I connect mine to a cargo tie down hook at the rear of the bed. That way it does not interfere with the hitch. I also bought one of these:

Hitch Cable

This keeps the cable from becoming entangled.
