Thanks for the opinions. It's all logical enough, I guess.
It's the "breaking in" that bothers me more than the stuff we lost. Everything was out of view, so there was no visual reason to break in. They'd still have broken in even if we had emptied everything out. That's the tough part to accept.
Much of our stuff (but not all) had been removed. So it could have been worse. The damage to the door will be the most expensive part of the experience. The TV was the only other big ticket item. It was recessed (rises up from the rear cabinet) and not visible, so I made the mistake of leaving it. The rest were smaller things.
It's just frustrating. First time in 10 or more years we've had something like this happen. Gotta roll with it, and move on, I suppose.
