I am curious as to how far back your pin is from the cab? I know circumstances can change quickly, such as a down hill. Were you making a forward U-turn? I have towed many years with my pin 40.5 inches behind cab, and last several years at 40 inches back.
What hitch are you using now? Some standard hitches have good adjustment ahead/back. The center of your 2013 Ford axle should be at 41 inches.

I was doing a U turn in a parking lot. I have a Husky fixed hitch. I'm not sure the distance from the cab but I will measure. My hitch doesn't have any front to rear adjustment.
