Broken shackle
Was preparing for a trip today. Glad I checked the running gear! Found this. Are those broken things called shackles? Looks like I'll be delayed a few days while Les Schwab gets the part...

Occurred somewhere along the way and I am convinced that it was not during the last week of driving.
Ignorance sure is bliss. I doubt you'd have gone far knowing they were broken!
